The Mooted Theatre Co is working with director Anna-Siobhan Wilcox for the first time to bring you Ibsen's masterpiece Hedda Gabler.
At the age of 29, the proud and beautiful Hedda has “danced herself out” and marries dull academic George Tesman in the hope of continuing the lavish, social lifestyle she is accustomed to. On returning from their honeymoon the news comes that academic rival Eliot Lovborg has published a book of great significance, casting doubt on the newlyweds financial security and leaving Hedda no future but one of excruciating boredom. As ghosts from the past return to haunt and the walls begin to close in, Hedda’s only route to freedom is to kick-start a chain of events with ultimately leads to violent destruction.
